On the floor, about 10 feet in front
of her, lay Lance. He was motionless and his white shirt was stained with
blood.
"LANCE!?" she coarsely screamed.
"No..." she whispered.
"Shhh, try and calm down," Julie
said putting a hand on Hannah's shoulder, also shocked. But then she screamed.
"BRIAN!? NICK!?" They were strewn
on the couch, also motionless and covered with blood.
"KEVIN!?" He too was on the floor
and was the same as all the rest.
"They are all DEAD!!" Jenny half
whispered when she saw AJ and Howie across the room, motionless as well.
"WHADDA WE DO!? WHADDA WE DO!?" Hannah
was frantic.
We were still standing in the doorway
in complete shock. We were all crying by now, we didn't know what to do.
I kept trying to think of what could have happened to the bodyguard. Why
wasn't he outside the room? Had he already run to get help?
Hannah rushed over to Lance and knelt
down beside him. She took his limp head in her lap and felt for a pulse.
"He has a pulse, he's not dead!"
she gratefully cried. Julie ran over to the two boys on the couch. It looked
like they had put up a fight and had gotten killed. She quickly checked their
pulses and found they were alive too. I did the same for Kevin, and Jenny
checked AJ and Howie. We sat down in a circle in the middle of the floor
between the three couches and were shaking in shock. We knew we had to call
911, but we sat motionless. I kept telling myself that the bodyguard would
be back any minute with the police. We thought we heard noises, but we didn't
budge, wondering if the killer was still lurking around in the room. We
closed our eyes and did a group hug, waiting, praying for the noises to
stop....
"GOTCHA!" we heard a yell. We screamed
in fright as arms surrounded us. We clamped our eyes shut and let the power
of our lungs take over; we kicked and screamed, thinking it was the arms
of the killer(s).
"Whoa there, calm down girls, can't
you take a joke!?" we heard a familiar voice ask. We stopped kicking and
screaming and opened our eyes to find the guys holding us down, not the killer
holding us down. We looked at them. They were real...right?
AJ started laughing, "Damn, we should
have video taped that!"
"Yeah, that would've been good!"
Kevin agreed.
"You guys sounded so worried!" Howie
grinned.
"That was priceless!" Nick gave Brian
a high-five.
"Dude, I think they were higher and
louder than Howie could ever possibly sing!" AJ commented.
"I heard that!" Howie yelled.
We looked at them in horror and looked
at each other. We nodded, understanding each other, got up, and proceeded
to leave the room.
"Aww c'mon you guys! Don't be mad!"
Lance wailed.
We kept silent. We marched out of
the room and headed straight for ours.
"We're sorry! C'mon...it was only
a joke!" Kevin yelled.
We still kept silent, got to our
room, and slammed the door.
"Nice idea, AJ," Howie whacked him
atop the head.
"What, spraying them with whipped
cream or something would have been better!?" he defended himself.
"Much..." Brian grumbled.
"Now what?" Nick pouted.
"They're pissed at us," Lance said.
"No shit, Sherlock," Nick mumbled.
"We need to apologize," Kevin decided.
"HOW? What are we gonna do?" Howie
asked.
There was a moment of silence as
they thought.
"What we do best," Kevin replied,
smiling.
~*~*~*(In our room)*~*~*~
We collapsed onto the couch.
"I cannot BELIEVE they did that!"
Jenny exasperated.
"How could they scare us like that,
and think it was funny?!" Julie asked.
"And they planned it all! They meant
to scare the crap out of us...!" I exclaimed.
"They are so insensitive, they are
so horrible," Hannah concluded.
"Men!" Jenny stated.
"Boys!" Hannah corrected her. We
smiled and lightly laughed.
"We can't just forgive them in a
snap," Julie stated. We nodded in agreement.
"So then what? We can't just not
talk to them," Jenny asked.
"I dunno. The silent treatment can
work wonders," Hannah smirked.
Then we heard something outside our
door. We heard a familiar song.
"There is nobody who can make me
cry.... Nobody else can do it...Nobody but you...Nobody but you..." (we
figured that was AJ)
"There is nobody who can make me
lie...Nobody else can do it...Nobody but you...Nobody but you... Nobody,
Nobody but you..." (we agreed that was Brian)
We noticed they changed the song
to a ballad-type tempo.
"Gimme one more chance to make it
right....Time has come for us to reunite...Baby it's true..." (Nick)
"Ain't nobody else but you" (Brian)
"...There's no one like you."
(Nick)
We got up from the couch.
"There is nobody who can make it
right...Nobody else can do it...Nobody but you...You know what to do..."
(Kevin)
"Ain't nobody else but you" (AJ)
"Nobody..." (Howie)
"Nobody" (AJ)
"Nobody but you..." (Howie)
"Somebody tell me, 'Cuz I can't eat
or sleep, When you're not close to my body, you're a bittersweet delight...Come
and help me through the night." (all... even Lance)
We opened the door. They were in
a line, sort of, and were snapping their fingers and tapping their feet
to keep the beat.
"Nobody..." (Lance)
"Ain't nobody else can make me cry,"
(AJ)
"Ain't nobody else can make me lie,"
(Brian)
"Nobody but you," (Nick)
We just stood in the doorway, trying
not to smile.
"Ain't nobody else but you," (Howie)
"Nobody but you," (Kevin)
"Nobody can make me lie," (AJ)
"Gimme one more chance make it right,"
(Nick)
"Time has come for us to reunite,"
(Lance)
"Cuz baby it's true," (Howie)
"Ain't nobody else but you," (Brian)
Kevin took my hand and finished the
song, "There's no one like you."
We were speechless.
"Forgive us?" Brian grinned sheepishly.
"What do you think, girls?" Jenny
asked us, with a we'll-get-them-back-later-don't-worry-just-play-nice-now
look. We nodded in understanding...the guys thought we nodded 'yes' to Brian's
question.
"Okay, okay, but don't think you
can do something like that again and sing yourself back onto our good side!"
Julie stated, swatting Nick on the shoulder.
"We won't," Nick tried to assure
us.
"Uh-huh..." Hannah didn't sound convinced.
"...And you, Lance...didn't know you could sing a BACKSTREET BOYS' song!"
she laughed.
"We had to teach it to him, " Howie
said.
He grinned, "Anything for you."
"Aww, how sweet!" I commented. Hannah
blushed and hit me.
"Twisted the tempo bit...?" I asked.
"Yeah, but aren't ballad tempos better
for 'begging for forgiveness' songs?" Kevin asked.
"Maybe..." I grinned. We headed towards
their suite.
"What did you guys use anyway, ketchup?"
I asked, talking about all the blood (that was still on them, dried).
"No, we just cut ourselves on purpose
and are bleeding to death," AJ said. We stopped in our tracks and looked
at him.
"Joke, a joke...geeze you girls are
uptight!" he laughed.
"You would be too if you went through
what we did!" Jenny hit him.
"OW!" he exclaimed.
"Everyone, an announcement! AJ has
said 'OW' for a record 100 times today!" Kevin joked. AJ made a face.
"So what about the blood?" I asked
again, eyeing AJ.
"From Nick's bag of tricks; fake
blood." Brian said, patting his buddy on the back.
"Yep! What would you guys do without
me?" Nick asked.
"Live normal lives." AJ said laughing.
Julie hit him. "OW! Now Julie too? Geeze!"
We laughed. Kevin opened the door
and let us all file in.
"Why, what a gentleman," I complimented.
"Of course," he bowed, grinning.
"NOW wadda we do?" Nick asked after
plopping down on the couch.
"Clean up," Kevin stated. The boys
looked at their shirts, remembering all the fake blood. Some of them had
it in their hair and on their faces.
"I got the shower first!" Brian yelled,
running towards a bedroom; the bathroom was attached to it.
"I got it next!' Nick yelled so the
other guys knew who was in line next.
"Then I get the 2nd shower!" AJ smirked
and ran in the opposite direction of Brian.
"HEY! WHAT?....oh yeah, there are
2 bathrooms..!" Nick sheepishly grinned.
"Always the smart one!" AJ yelled
from the bathroom.
"Everyone picks on me!" Nick pouted.
Julie was laughing.
"You guys can use the one shower
in our suite," Jenny suggested.
"Okay, it's mine!" Howie got up,
got his clothes, and ran out the door to our room.
"Oh great, we get to sit here in
dried fake blood and wait." Lance said to Kevin. He shrugged.
"Nice whining...very attractive,"
Hannah commented smiling.
"I do what I can," he grinned back.
Soon, Howie walked in the room and
plopped on the couch beside Jenny. AJ emerged from his shower; we didn't
notice him. He attempted to cross the room tiptoeing, trying to keep us from
noticing him.
"Nice SKIRT AJ!" Jenny laughed. We
looked. He froze, stopped walking, and turned a bit red...then made a face
at her; he was in his towel, carrying his clothes.
"Why thank you... it's from Paris,"
he said in a high-pitched voice. "Ownlee dee best pour moi!"
"I assume your room...and clothes...are
opposite the bathroom you used...?" Jenny asked.
"Smart lady," he replied and headed
towards his room.
"Be sure not to come out in your
birthday suit, Brian!" Julie yelled.
"WHAT?" We heard a muffled confused
reply from the bathroom.
"HIS bathroom is next to his room,
sorry to disappoint you, Julie," AJ said, exiting his room, dressed.
"Aw, gosh darnit!" she laughed. Soon
Brian emerged form his room and plopped down beside Julie.
"Time for us to shower," Kevin told
Nick and Lance.
"You three have fun now!" AJ said,
sitting down on the other side of Jenny.
"Funny, AJ," Kevin said.
"AJ..." Nick shook his head.
"My eyes are watering, it was so
funny," Lance said as they walked off.
We sat in silence on the couch. Jenny,
Julie, Hannah, and I were racking our brains, trying to think of how to
get sweet revenge on the guys. Hannah, the closest to me, noticed my eyes
light up and gave me a questioning look. I motioned for her to scoot closer
so I could whisper to her. Julie and Jenny asked with their eyes if they
needed to come join, but we shook our heads, and they nodded. We got up.
They watched us as we headed towards the bedrooms.
"Um, what are you guys doing...?"
Brian asked the question everyone on the couches wanted to know the answer
to.
"Shh! You'll see. Just wait," Hannah
said.
Hannah and I saluted to each other
and split our path and headed in opposite directions, each to the other
side of the suite. She headed towards Lance's bathroom, I headed towards
Kevin's. We each turned the corner in the bedroom and located the bathrooms.
Luckily, both doors were open. We could hear the water running. We smiled
when we heard the guys humming songs. I opened the door very carefully, just
as I assumed Hannah was doing from across the suite. We could tell hot water
was running from the steam...perfect. We got up on the toilet seat so we
could just see the top of guys' heads over the shower curtain's pole and
rings. They were oblivious to the fact we were in their bathrooms. We got
off the seat and placed a hand on the flush of the toilet. I closed my eyes,
knowing Hannah was doing the exact same thing, and pressed down on the lever.
We didn't wait for reactions; we just bolted.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
we heard simultaneous yells from each side of the suite. We kept running,
jumped, and landed on one of the couches.
"We were here on this couch the
whoooole time, get it? Got it? Good!" we told the confused looking faces
around us on the other couches. The nodded, agreeing not to tell on us for
whatever we had just done. Hannah and I were trying not to laugh and the others
were trying to keep smiles from creeping onto their faces. We wiped the grins
from our faces as soon as the two fuming victims came out in their towels.
"WHO FLUSHED THE TOILET WHILE WE
WERE TAKING A SHOWER!?" they yelled. The others, finally understanding what
we had done, burst out laughing.
"Ohh, the old toilet trick? HAHA!
I bet you were shocked when your hot water turned into ICE water!!" Brian
laughed.
"Hahaha...very funny...now who did
it?" Lance demanded. They scanned everyone's face to find something that
would give away the culprit. Everyone tried to be serious, but there was
a snicker now and then. When their scan got to us, we tried to put on our
most innocent looking faces--a mistake.
"Why are you two alone on one couch,
separated form the others..?" Kevin asked.
"I-Is there a problem w-with that?"
I tried to reply. Kevin looked at Lance. They shrugged, and headed towards
their rooms.
"Th-that was it!?" Hannah whispered.
"No more interrogating?" I asked.
Jenny shrugged.
"Maybe they gave up...?"
"They don't give up..." Brian said.
"Then what?" We asked.
"Dunno..." AJ sighed. We saw Howie
look up behind us, but we thought nothing of it. We were still smiling,
thinking about the whole joke.
"Does anybody liked to be TICKLED!?"
we heard a whisper turn to a yell from behind us. Lance and Kevin pinned
us to the floor and began to tickle us; we laughed uncontrollably.
"EEKKK!!! HELLPPP!!!" we screamed.
"AIR...NEED...AIR...!" Before we knew it, Hannah and I were hoisted up and
placed like rag dolls on Kevin and Lance's shoulders.
"LEMME GO!" Hannah wailed.
"I DON'T LIKE BEING PICKED UP!" I
screamed.
"Okay..." they said, and plopped
us down in the hallway, and shut the door.
"Wa, what!? They locked us out!?"
I screamed trying the door handle. We could hear laughing from inside.
"FINE! BE THAT WAY!" Hannah yelled
through the door. We turned, crossed our arms, and leaned against the door.
"Idiots can't take a joke..." she mumbled.
"And we can...?" I asked referring
to the present situation. She smiled.
...We must have dozed off because
we woke up with our heads hitting the ground. We opened our eyes to see 8
heads looking down on us.
"How are the pranksters? Tired? You
poor things were out for 20 minutes," Lance said.
"No, we just now have a concussion,
thank you for taking away our door to lean on," Hannah replied.
"You're welcome...we love opening
doors," Kevin grinned.
"I'll bet," I mumbled. They helped
us up and we all went back to sitting on the couch.
"So Sarah," Kevin said, "We heard
that you sing."
