"Julie..." Brian tried to start,
but unable to find words, "I, I...I'm sorry."
"Why--"
"I shouldn't have done that. I mean,
I know you like Nick too, or whatever you want to call it. I put you in a
bad spot. I felt so bad, I wasn't being fair..." he trailed off. He couldn't
understand what had possessed him to kiss her. He just had to, and did.
"Don't punish yourself, Brian--" Julie
began.
"Julie, I like you. You can see that.
You're pretty, and smart, and nice, and--"
"Brian--"
"I'm just confused. I felt really
bad cuz I'm even jealous of Nick when he tries to talk to you. I mean, he's
my best friend, I shouldn't be acting like this. I'm just so messed up..."
He started bashing himself again.
"Brian, stoppit."
"But--"
"Stop bashing yourself. It's not your
fault that I 'like' you both. I don't know either of you well enough to say
I really like you. You should understand that all I know of you guys is what
I've heard or read--"
"But--"
"Shh. It's like Hannah and Lance,
or Sarah and Kevin, 'cept I didn't have ONE favorite. They seem to be hitting
it off well...We're definitely not like AJ, Jenny, and Howie, " she laughed,
but then turned serious again, "...But it's gonna be different for you and
me. I had TWO 'favorites,' you...and Nick..."
"I understand that, but...oh, I dunno."
Brian looked at the ground. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to be with
her, but he wanted her to be happy.
"Don't bother yourself about it,"
she said. Brian looked worried. "C'mon, don't worry yourself inside out over
it! I know I gotta decide, but I don't know when or how I will...I never even
thought I'd ever even have decide, ya know?" Brian smiled. "From what I know
of you guys, you two are extremely sweet. You can always make me laugh, or
you can comfort me when needed...but I don't like just one of you. This 'like'
could even be nothing, it's just based on air. It's based on me admiring you
guys from afar. That's what bothers me, but I'm going to have to figure things
out." She sighed. "It's now also based on me feeling totally flattered that
you guys are willing to spend time with my friends and me. That is, besides
the fact that I'm one of few lucky girls out there will ever get to hang
with you guys," Julie added, grinning.
"Okay," Brian replied with a bit of
a smile. He wanted her to know he understood.
"Heeey ...what's going on down there?!"
Nick inquired from his spot in the line seeing Brian talking to Julie.
"Dude man, they could be having a
private conversation, leave 'em be!" AJ said in hushed annoyed tone.
"But...ugh," Nick grumbled as AJ elbowed
him. Nick sighed and turned around trying to get back into the conversation
between him, Hannah, and Lance.
"OH, he thinks he's gonna disturb
us, eh?" Brian asked Julie with an evil grin. "Forgive me my dear," and with
that he lightly shoved her into me, my back had been turned to her. I fell
onto an unsuspecting Kevin who had been facing me, who then fell on Howie.
He landed on Jenny, who toppled over onto AJ. AJ then collapsed on Nick, Hannah
jumped out of the way, and Nick tumbled onto Lance. She was giggling.
"Nice domino effect Bri," Julie commented,
noticing that he and Hannah were the only ones left standing.
He helped her up. "Sorry, it had to
be done," he smirked.
"You okay?" Howie asked Jenny worriedly,
helping her up.
"Yeah, thanks."
"I was afraid I had squashed you!'"
"Naw, I'm fine. Thanks. You are sweet,
you know that?" Jenny playfully punched him.
"They don't call me Sweet D for nothin',"
Howie beamed. AJ grunted and helped himself up.
"THANK YOU Brian...AJ knocked the
wind out of me!" Nick wailed after he was the last to get up.
We laughed as AJ smirked, "Didn't
know I was THAT heavy, thank you Nick. But I'm glad I wasn't behind you..."
"WHAT?! You callin me a cow...?! Just
cuz I like to eat don't mean nothin! Pick on Brian!"
"GO-lly Nick! I get hungry too...but
lemme introduce u to my good friend Jenny...Jenny CRAIG!"
"HEY!" Nick pouted.
"Notice how everyone is in good spirits
about it all but you?" Brian pointed out.
"Well I'm the one it was directed
at...for some reason, so I have the right to me mad," Nick defended himself.
"It seems you have the right to do
everything...be a baby, be mad--" Julie started, numbering off her fingers.
"Nuh-uh!" Nick said.
"Yes-huh!" Julie replied.
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yuh-huh!"
"Julie, you're acting like Brian."
Hannah commented.
Brian smiled, "She learns from the
best."
"I don't care who she learned how
to argue from...I'm sick of all the bickering so puh-leese stoppit," Jenny
pleaded.
"Yeah you guys, enough." Howie added.
Nick shrugged.
"Mommy, mommy, Wook! Iss Tha Bakstweet
Boyz!" a little girl in another bend of the line close to us pointed out.
"Shh, no it's not dear...don't point,
it's not nice." The mother cooed her daughter. This had diverted our attention.
The Boys quickly remembered their
hats and sunglasses, readjusting them, though not making much of a difference.
"I think you guys should get big Disney
hats....I can just picture Nicky-boy here with Mickey Ears...awww, how sweet!"
Jenny said. Nick attempted to ignore her suggestion.
"Hey, only two ride in a car...we're
almost there so decide or forever hold your peace," Lance said, nudging Hannah
hinting she was to go with him.
AJ was about to open his mouth to
ask Jenny when Howie sweetly stated, "Jenny, may I ride with you?"
"Why of course, Sweet D, you may,"
she replied with a smile, using his nickname.
"But then you won't be able to sit
with me," AJ whined. "Wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?"
"AJ, stop quoting Shakespeare and
deal," Jenny grinned.
AJ grumbled, "Nick, you're with me."
"But...I...Julie...fine." he exasperatedly
said.
"Nick, you gotta learn to ride with
people other than Julie," Howie commented with a smile as Nick made a face
at him.
"You wanna ride with me?" Kevin asked.
"Only if I get to drive..." I answered
with an evil grin.
"It's okay, I'll drive,"
"Nnnooo, me drive." I insisted.
"More cave man talk, 'eh? Can't have
that."
"And what was that supposed to mean,
mister Canadian, EH?"
"You can drive."
"I guess you're stuck with me," Brian
said trying to conceal a smile, "Unless of course, you want to ride alone.
I can ride alone if you want to..."
"Oh, stoppit, " Julie said, "I see
your smile...Mind you, trying to make me feel guilty didn't help at all. But
I get to drive!"
"I wouldn't allow anyone else but
you to drive the car I rode in!" Brian replied happily.
"How many sir?" The attendant asked
Lance.
"10...5 groups of 2," he answered
promptly. AJ rolled his eyes.
"Rows 3 through 7 please. Just wait
for the cars," the attendant instructed.
Hannah and Lance went to row 3. It
seemed they were arguing on who got to drive. AJ and Nick followed to row
4...Nick let AJ drive. They started complaining about the lack of leg room
in the cars. Jenny and Howie went to row 5. Kevin and I went to row 6.
"Yesss, blue car!" I said. He looked
at me oddly. "My favorite color is blue..." I explained. He nodded in comprehension
but made a sarcastic 'I don't get you' face.
"Mine is too...Kentucky: The Blue
Grass State."
"Oh yeah...I should know that." I
smirked. Brian and Julie went behind us to row 7, and we were ready to drive.
We all started out slow and steady.
I was having fun scaring Kevin by driving like a maniac. He would make me
promise not to make another sharp turn, I would agree (with my fingers crossed),
then as soon as he relaxed, make another sharp turn. Julie caught on and did
the same thing to Brian, who acted the same as his cousin. Lance was sarcastically
dictating to Hannah exactly how she should be driving. She was mocking him
and he attempted to tickle her; we heard laughter and screams and saw their
car swerve at these times. Jenny was having fun threatening AJ and Nick,
saying she would ram them if they didn't speed up. Nick turned around and
stuck out is tongue saying she wasn't allowed to; attendants would yell at
her. But then she picked the perfect spot, a bend in the road where no attendants
could see, and Nick and AJ got immediate whiplash. Jenny and Howie laughed
hysterically, Howie gave her a high-five; Nick and AJ couldn't believe that
Jenny had actually rammed them. AJ was about to start cussing when Nick hushed
him, Jenny and Howie were still laughing. Lance turned around and figured
out the predicament, and laughed to, starting Hannah off. Julie and
Brian were laughing about something else, but it seemed odd that Kevin and
I were the only ones not laughing. He looked at me and shrugged.
"We're the sane ones again..." he
commented with a hint of sarcasm. I had to smirk at that. With everyone else
laughing, I started too. He looked at me in mock horror and said "You're
not gonna leave me all alone, are you?!" His sarcasm and worried face made
me laugh even harder as he rolled his eyes, "Oh no! I've lost you too!"
There were many 'glares' shot and
'innocent' looks given when we got off the ride.
"Soo...what good rides are left?"
Howie asked.
"Ummm, Matterhorn, Pirates of the
Caribbean, and Roger Rabbit." Jenny replied, "There's also Thunder Mountain.
I think that's all--"
"TEACUPS!" Nick and Brian shouted
in unison.
Jenny covered her ears, "Okay, okay,
so I missed a ride...geeze."
I began to think about where each
ride was situated in the park and Hannah commented, "So Sarah, checking that
map of yours?" with a smirk. I made a face at her. "And your opinion of direction
would be...?" she teased me.
Indignantly I looked at her and stated,
"It would be more efficient to go to the end of the park, ride Roger Rabbit,"
I glanced at Nick and Brian, "...then the Teacups, Matterhorn, Big Thunder,
and finally Pirates." I smiled sweetly as Hannah stared at me; she hadn't
expected me to answer.
"Is efficiency a top priority...?"
Lance questioned my plan.
"No, but that plan will also save
your feet from extra walking," I explained.
"Don't worry, we could always carry
you," Kevin grinned,
"Umm, no, I don't like to be carried..."
I backed away form him.
"Fine, whatever, can we go now?" AJ
impatiently stated and looked at me for directions.
"C'mon," I sighed.
On the way, Nick got a bag of popcorn
and began to chuck pieces at Julie and Brian. AJ got the same idea and grinned
evilly at Jenny and Howie, until his gaze met Jenny's warning glare. Lance
got another churro for Hannah, who practically lost all of it to the ground
as she playfully tried to walk backwards and joke around all the way there
just for the fun of it; she would ram into some people and lose her grip,
both dove to save it time after time.
