"Dammit, why is there always a friggin
LONG line!?!?" AJ wailed when he reached Space Mountain. He had finally let
Jenny go, her arm hurt a bit from him pulling her so abruptly and so fast...she
was plotting how to get back at him.
"Shut up man, there are little kids
here!" Howie said smacking him atop the head.
"But me wanna go on ride!" AJ whimpered.
"He IS a kid...just with a dirty mouth
that needs alotta soap..." Jenny commented, rubbing her sore arm.
"Age, shut up for once!" Brian said
as he, Nick, and Julie caught up with them.
"Yeah man," Nick agreed.
"Arright, arright...geeze...but me
wanna go on ride!!!!" AJ complained.
"Relax, you big baby!" Jenny rolled
her eyes.
"Yeah, you sound like Nick," Brian
chuckled as Nick's face contorted in defense and Julie smiled.
"Nuh-uh!" Nick started, as he walked
forward to tower over Brian
"Uh-huh!" Brian returned getting in
Nick's face.
"Puh-leese!" Julie separated the two.
Hannah, Lance, Kevin, and I reached the scene
"Ohhh, fight, fight!" Lance laughed.
"Whatever," Hannah sighed, "Are we
gonna get in line or not?!"
"Oh, yeah, " AJ sheepishly grinned
and slid into the line. He attempted to pull Jenny, but did not succeed as
he missed her arm as she hid behind Howie, who of course beamed. I went in
line next, Kevin behind him me, Hannah, Lance, then Julie, Brian, and Nick.
We heard a screech and turned around to find Julie with a shocked look on
her face and Brian with a huge grin.
"Um, what just happened?" I questioned
Brian.
"Did I miss sumthin?" Nick looked
confused.
"Naw...I just found out that Julie
here is ticklish, at least she reacted when I poked her!" he said, keeping
his grin.
Julie frowned and ran behind Nick, "Don't let him tickle me again!" she
ordered him.
"Yes ma'am!" he saluted. Brian stuck
out his bottom lip and pouted.
"Nuh-uh, Brian, I don't care what
you do, I'm staying away from you!"
"I'm glad no one's tickled me," I
said under my breath, but Kevin heard me.
"What was that?" he questioned me
with and evil grin.
"Ohh no, noooo, don't touch me!" I
joined Jenny in hiding behind Howie, who just smirked at the situation.
"And why not, may I ask?" Kevin came
closer.
"Because I practically die, that's
why. If I am poked, and I even see you commit such a crime, I scream bloody
murder. No telling how I'll react to full tickling, or even being picked up,"
I explained, grabbing Howie's shoulder, positioning him between us as Kevin
came closer, "So don't, GOT THAT? Or else!" I threatened.
"Or else WHAT?" he laughed at my sternness,
coming even closer, like a cat about to pounce.
"Or else...I...umm...umm...you DON'T
wanna know!" I returned.
"Yeah," Hannah said, sticking up for
me, "She takes kickboxing, so watch out, buddy!" Jenny and Julie nodded.
"Oh really?" Kevin asked, "Fine, I
give up, " he retreated, his hand in the air with defeat. I sighed in relief
and returned to my place in line. AJ had been paying attention to us, and
not the line, so there was a big gap in front of him.
"Yo! Move it Bone!" Nick called out
from the back.
"Whoops, silly me..." AJ grinned and
tried to regain the lost distance. I was about to walk forward, when I felt
2 strong arms around my waist. Before I knew it, I was over Kevin's shoulder
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" I screamed in
shock.
He placed me down when the line stopped
and grinned, "That wasn't that horrible, was it?"
"Ah! ....You! ....I told you!....
Ah!.... I can't believe you!" was all I could mumble. His grin grew, why
had I believed his sudden and easy defeat?...he had been plotting the whole
time!
"Geeze Sarah, CALM," Jenny told me.
"Hey, I warned you I would scream,
especially YOU!" I pointed a finger at Kevin.
"Me?" he innocently asked. He threw
his hands in the air, "I didn't do nuthin but help move the line along, that's
all," he tried to defend himself.
"You would drown if she sued you in
court, with a defense like that!" Hannah commented as Lance snickered.
"Why thank you," Kevin bowed, "I do
what I can."
"How much money have we spent?" Jenny
asked me, trying to pass time.
"I dunno, give The Brain here your
receipts and ask her..." I replied, with a smile, pointing to Julie.
"HEY...don't call me that!" she whined.
"Brain...?" Brian and Nick asked in
confusion.
"This girl here is the perfect example
of a child prodigy..." I began.
"Stoppit..." Julie warned.
"Though all four of us accompany her
in the superior AP and HONORS classes, she still has a way to be even better
than us..." Hannah continued.
"I mean it..." Julie warned again.
"Is that so?" Brian asked with a smile.
He wasn't sure if he was really beginning to like Julie, but this fact helped
him decide.
"She's Miss Perfect..." Jenny continued.
"SHUT UP!" Julie said, embarrassed.
"That's cool..." Nick said making
Julie smile. "...Hey, we're there!" he yelled, pointing at AJ who was at
the front of the line.
"How many in your party sir?" the
Space Mountain attendant asked.
"Um 5...sorry, 8...whoops 10! Sorry,"
AJ stumbled, trying to remember everyone. Jenny giggled. "Hey, I CAN actually
add... just when I want to that is..." AJ informed her.
"Sure," Jenny laughed.
"Rows 1 through 5, two per row please,"
the attendant instructed.
"Me in front!!!"/index.html" AJ yelled, this
time succeeding in grabbing Jenny's arm.
"Owww," she complained as he made
her sit down.
"Are we all comfy?" he sweetly asked
as he pushed down the handlebars with a click.
"Hpmh" was Jenny's reply. Howie sighed
and sat down in the next row behind them, "Hey Nick, come sit here!" He pulled
Nick with him.
"But...I....Julie....fine," Nick said
in a huff.
"Well I'm happy to sit with you too,"
Howie replied.
"Care to ride next to me my dear?"
Lance gestured towards the next row.
"Why, it'd be a pleasure!" Hannah
played along and sat beside him.
Kevin sat in the next row and pulled
me down "Sit here."
"Well, if you insist," I replied.
"Why, of course, it's the least I
can do after upsetting you!" he grinned again.
"C'mere Julie, " Brian said, taking
her hand, leading her to the last row, behind Kevin and me. "Cozy?" he grinned
as the handlebar clicked.
"Yeah," she smiled, "...but don't
tickle me," she warned.
The spaceship cars lurched forward
as the ride began. They stopped for a moment under some black lights. I could
hear AJ dictating to Jenny what was going happen on the ride, Jenny trying
to inform him that she had been on the ride before, Nick oohing and ahhing
at the color change in his clothes, Howie playing along with him, Hannah laughing
at some jokes Lance had cracked, and Brian and Julie talking or something.
"Hey Julie?" Brian asked, turning
his head towards her.
"Hmmm?" she answered, looking ahead,
grasping the handlebar waiting for the ride to actually start.
"So you still like Nick as much as
you like me, right?"
"Hmm? Why do you a--" Julie turned
her towards him, intending to ask why he had asked, but his lips met hers.
The car lurched forward again, breaking the lip lock. Julie didn't have time
to respond, nor did Brian have time to explain, as the real ride started.
It was as fun as I had remembered
it from the last time I had ridden Space Mountain, but this time it was different.
I wasn't just screaming for the heck of it, but I was observing the others.
I could identify everyone; AJ screaming with joy, Nick with fear, Jenny and
Howie were silent, Hannah screaming for the heck of it like I usually did,
Lance joining her, Kevin yelling, Brian whooping, and Julie screaming. All
I could do was smile. Many a time the ride thrust me onto Kevin's shoulder,
not that I was complaining, but I wondered if he had minded.
We got off the ride, AJ ran ahead,
full of adrenaline. Jenny was getting quite hyper, and she ran to catch up
with him. Howie just sighed and talked to Nick, who was wondering where Julie
was. Kevin was grinning, saying we should go on the ride again if we had time.
Lance and Hannah seemed to be having some sort of relay race. Brian was silent,
looking at Julie with questioning eyes. She was staring at the ground as
she walked, contemplating what had happened. We met up outside to decide
on our next activity. Julie seemed to still be thinking about something, in
her own little world; she wasn't paying attention as the group decided on
(with many arguments) "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience"; it had been a compromise.
I had to snap her back to reality to follow us. As the group headed on, I
pulled her behind and asked what was wrong.
"Brain kissed me..." was all she could
whisper, touching her lips with her fingers, still in some sort of shock.
