~*Into The Millennium Tour*~
Concert memories...
(part 5)

After another bit of silence (remember, I don't mean the girls stopped screaming, just the boys stopped singing and the instruments stopped playing),the familiar opening BOOMS of "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" could be heard. The middle of the stage had sunken down to its normal level, and now it was rising again. You could see figures clinging onto the supports underneath, in every position possible. The song started as soon as the figures were in full view. After Brian's intro lines to the song - when the tempo changed - the Boys leapt from the center of the stage and began dancing. But uh-uh-oh, they didn't finish the song! It changed to...
"We've Got It Goin On", the classic ;o). All the energy was flowing, man. Those jumping jacks, the Boys made 'em look easy, after all the exercise they'd already done ;o) And just when you thought they were going to actually finish THIS song...
They switched to "That's The Way I Like It". They didn't do the arm thing (know what I mean? Well, I call it the helicopter thing) cuz each Boy was on a separate side of the stage for the majority of the song. I think this little medley of three songs actually got me on my feet, screaming (I KNOW! Me? Screaming? *gasp*) Well, I think it got EVERYBODY up ::grins::
Again, the guys disappeared for a short time. When they returned, "Spanish Eyes" started. They were sitting on stools, on the risen part of the stage, in PINK >_<. My mother thinks they looked good in pink. I beg to differ - they looked good cuz they are da Boyz, but I personally don't like pink on ANYone...sooo.....
When siting there up on the center part of the stage, it began to turn sowly, so you could see each Boy... Brian ...Nick ...AJ ...and AJ really singing ;o)...
They preformed "I'll Never Break You Heart" on the risen stage too, I think.
Supposedly they sang "Just to Be Close To You" - another one not too prominent in my memory. HEY, work with me here! It's been a while since I saw the concert, and I'm still attempting to finish this review, dammit...!
For "All I Have To Give" , the Boys got pink coats and hats to complete their outfits. I thought the stage was a wee bit cluttered with all the dancers, but oh well. They were still da bomb...
One of the bo\Bys spoke (I think it was Brian), saying they were dedicating the next song to Denis Pop. I knew what was comin' - "Show Me The Meaning (Of Being Lonely)". THIS is my fave song...I was in heaven...

There was a LONG silence after SMTM ended. They had been saying thank you's in the ending chords, so we were all wondering if the show was really over. Some people immediately started to get up and leave. But then a light burst on above one side of the stage and we heard Nick sing, "Bay-bay, it's the way you make-may, kinda get me go cray-zay, never wanna STOP!"
Yup, there was an encore, and they sang "It's Gotta Be You." Remember, there are no opening chords to the song, so it kinda gave ppl a jolt when they started singing all of a sudden ;o) They were all changed, once again. It looked like they had pajamas on at first, but it was just alligator/dragon-print type baggy pants. AJ had a sparkling silver (cowboy type?) hat - the same kind as the leopard one - and a white tank top. Nick had a white shirt to go with his pants. Brian had a maroon/white jacket with a hood. Kevin had a black tank top, and Howie had a black sweatshirt on.
Just after the bridge part of the song (the slow part with Bri singing), the guys hopped up to the high center of the stage and a sort of intro thing began. They each introduced a pair of dancers - a guy and a girl - and one of the musicians. While waiting for his turn, Brian was sitting on the center part, dangling his feet over the edge, minding his own business... AJ came over and flipped Bri's hood over his head - it was cute ;o) After Nick had his turn, he said "And let's hear it for M.C....D!..." Then he added "Get it?" quietly. At first, I was confused. By Nick, a guy - with his black sweatshirt hood way over his head covering his eyes - started rapping and making exaggerated hand motions. It took me a split second to figure out that it was Howie, you know, "D"? ;o)
After the introductions of the band and the dancers,  the Boys continued the song were they left off. Nick took a chance and stole AJ's hat to wear for while at some point. Brian held the mike out for the audience to sing. AJ got a piggyback [from one of the bodyguards] around the outside of the stage, where screaming girls, held back by a fence, strained their arms in attempts and touch his.
At the end of the song, they showed up together again on the high part of the stage . Kevin had this weird HUGE green cloth sign when they were up there, even when they locked hands and bowed (which he tried to tie around his waist , I guess to get it out of the way, but gave up after it fell, and held it in one hand ) - I still dunno wut it said. Their part of the stage was beginning to lower down to the normal stage height. It went past the level of the rest of the stage and took them out of view. ;o(

The lights went off and the music ended. This time more people started to leave. We thought they missed a song, we were hesitant to leave. The annoying girls in front and in back of us left and we could hear and see muuuuch better. We were freaking out - hadn't they missed a song?? ...Just as we were about to leave, familiar chords started to play...
It was "I Want It That Way" - people screamed and scrambled back to their seats. The Boys were standing on the middle of the raised portion of the stage again - their fave spot ;o) - singing. When the chorus came around the second time, they stuck out their mics with one hand and put their other to their ear, indicating we had to sing it. They stopped singing after the bridge, while the music continued to play, to say thank you's again, saying they hoped to see all of as again. The music died down as they spoke, and when they finished talking, they sang the chorus a cappella. The music started again and they sang the chorus about 2 more times...the center of the stage slowly lowered again...the light went off and the music died down. On came the house lights, to blind us all.

Some ppl were handing out postcards or something to the crowds as we left the building. It took awhile to drive out of the parking lot. Venders had armloads of T-shirts, screaming the prices, trying to catch any last-minute buyers. On the way home, Kat, Chin and Jen insisted that one of their CD's be played ("That's What She Said" was repeated many times) and they had a nice sing along. We got home around 1 AM. We had school in a few hours....so? ;o)
