~*//.RuleZ.\\*~
it seems i write even too much for instructions, ya think!?
;o)

if u want to be hosted...read and understand 'em ALL!!!!!!!

1.) If your story is already being hosted by you on your page or somewhere else, please DO NOT have me host it here as well.

I can link your story from this site to where it is already...but if it's already up, please don’t expect me to take the time to make duplicate html pages to put it online just so it can be seen here too. There's no point. Linking is the way to go.

*NOTE: once I do host your story, and later down the road if you decide to stop writing, or you want it hosted somewhere else, or you end up getting your own site and are putting it online yourself-- would you mind telling ME, please!? That way, I can either take it down and save space, and/or link to where you put it up on your corner of the web. Simple enough?

2.) Pleasenotify me if you want your story to be hosted.

I am more than happy to host, but I would like to be notified before I get a billion and one emails with chapters or attachments of word documents out of the blue, especially with no explanations, like preferences, or even who's emailing me. (yes, it has happened)

*By the way - if you don't have a short story and are sending chapters, PLEASE DO NOT send the chapters in 'parts'! Do you know how annoying it is to search through my jammed inbox? "There's part 1 of chapter15...umm…oh! there's part 3...waaiit - where the hell part 2? AHH!!" (>_<)...just finish the chapter and send it to me in one WHOLE piece when u'r done, ok?...[oh, by all means, the chapters can be in parts if you've written it to be that way, but DON'T send them separately, please!]

3.) Remember to tell me your preferences ...or I won't be able to put the story up!
(A.) Make sure you give me the title of your story  ( people HAVE forgotten to do this)
(B.) If you want a summary to go up by the link to your story on the hosted stories page, send it too.
(C.) Let me know the name/nickname/penname  you want to go by
(D.) Tell me what email address you want to go up with the story (some people have more than one and usually only want one to be up on the net)
(E.) What picture do you want to go with your story? (you can send one as an attachment -- .jpg or .gif file -- or use one online if u tell me the address of the picture - it can even be from my scrapbook)
(F.) What do you want the text color to be?
(G.) Font? (not something really random...I may not have it on my computer)...Oh, if you want it a bigger or small size than usual (size 12), let me know
(H.) What background do you want? ( the background can be a solid color or if you have a file, you can send it as an attachment on email)

*please DO NOT email me saying "this color font" and "this color background" ...my email isn't too fancy--it doesn't matter if your letter is  all pretty when you send it--chances are I'll get it in black and white...so "this color" isn't much help cuz it won't be a color to me

----note: sometimes sending stories through email messes things up -- i.e., things like quotation marks and apostrophe's etc get replaced by symbols. If at all possible, you might want to send the story as an attachment - a Microsoft Word file, or saved using some other commonly-used word processing document--saving it as a Rich Text Format file (.rtf) usually works if you don't have Word

~about the notifying thing...the BEST thing for me  *cough*hint*cough* is when I get an email with all the preferences clearly stated, just waiting for me to reply and give an "ok" for you to send the story on over...

4.) PleaseDO NOT send chapters, short stories, etc., without using spell check and editing your own work!!!!!!!!
I cannot stress this enough!!!! I usually read the stories as I put them up...
---but I DON'T have the time to edit a sentence that looks like this:

"rthemn jhee wallkjed obver toi mne" (then he walked over to me)
---sometimes it seems as if people wrote the thing right then and there from scratch on the email, and hit send...without even looking over it!!!  hate to break it to you, but it doesn't really work that way...I would expect that you guys have these stories in word processing documents or something, that you save and work on, you know...? at least those are how I write my stories...
---Also, try to keep the same tense! It is VERY confusing to read sentences like this:
"Four months have pasted and it was coming up to July. The first concert is here. The guys got up and get ready to go to practice for tonight."
--- And you know that people don't speak internet abbriviations, right? i.e., ppl don't say "i'll BRB,"  "w/" or "omg!" when they're speaking...they say "I'll be right back." "with" and "oh my god!"...I'm bad at this sometimes too, I know,  like putting "y" and "u" for "why" and "you", or "gtg" for "got to go"...but TRY and remember - no internet lingo when you type up your stories..!!!...even in narratives, watch out for things like "bf" and "gf," k???
---might I mention too that people's names and most places should be capitalized (Frick&Frack, Kev, AJ,  D, Rok and Denny's are NOT frick&frack, kev, aj --or "Aj"--, d, and denny's..)
---and did you know that every time a person speaks, it starts a new paragraph? (yes, ppl send me stories in whole BLOBS and I have to spent HOURS - yes, hours -  when I read 'em, sifting through, hitting the freaking 'return' key a bunch of times...)
---By the way, try to remember: "you're" is different from "your"..."whose" is different than "who's"..."were" is not the same as "we're"..."there" is different from "their" or "they're"..."yea" is different from "ya" [as in "you"]...and things like the past tense of "sing" is not "singed"...

You get my drift? be careful! I can fix things (don't worry, I'm not gonna kill you if you have errors here and there), but if the majority of the story is messed up, I'm going to send it back for you to fix. If there's a reoccuring mistake, don't be mad if I inform you of it, and politely ask that you fix yoru wrong doings for future stories/ chapters. ....I'm sorry, but I don't have LOADS of free time to be a head editor or something...I know I prolly seem too persnicity, but I'm trying to make MY life a bit easier!!!

Remember: The less I have to fix your story, the faster it'll get up online! If I don't have to spend time fixing, 10 to 1 your story will be higher on my site-to-do-list than some of the others.

***as of August 2001 I'm adoptinga new strategy because of all the pain and annoyance I go through with being dubbed "main editor" for some reason... I will put up whatever you send me, but I DO NOT promise to read it before doing so...thus, any corrections that may have tobe made might not be seen by me...It will be up to YOU for your story to be perfect. [also--if u want anything special like italics, bold words, or underlines in the text, you've got to tell me WHERE specifically to place those things--i'm not going to hunt for 'em--cuz otherwise, it's just going up online as i get it]

5.) Content - I'm not going to constrict people from using language etc., these are your stories, not mine, I really don't care what rating. Let me know if you want a rating put up with it, and if so, what rating - people do have the right to be warned...

----note: this is a bit about the plot lines; just a suggestion...I'm not gonna say "that's too cliché(used a lot), and i'm not putting it up!" or anything....but just letting you know, people don't like to read the same stuff over and over again...
(you know, you just HAPPEN to catch nick's eye in a concert and he falls head-over-heels in love with you  in the same day...or you grew up with aj, then BOOM all of a sudden he informs you that's he's famous, u just never knew somehow...or there are girls in a pop group / dancers who are touring with the boys...or there's a girl and her phyco boyfriend and a BSB happens to meet her and save her from the volence...or someone wins a contest and meets them and...)
You get  my point, here?  Originality can be good, you guys....and stories don't' have to be about you. you can make up characters. if you don't wanna try and figure out how they met bsb, start of with them knowing each other, for crying out loud, and make an interesting plot from there!!!
Even if you're the best writer in the world, a bad plot line ruins the story, no matter how well you wrote it.
---ppst: I found a site that might help... http://www.teelajones.com/wp/

6.) Limit - there is no set limit or constriction to these stories.they can be 50 chapters or 2 chapters, have epilogues and prologues (or not), have 3 parts, be a short story....you get what I'm saying? just write and be happy! [heh - this is after I give a lecture about story lines...wonder if the teeny-boppers will kill me yet...]

Look, I know you may think this is a LOT (hell, I think it is)...but I'm just trying to make my life easier, here. sorry for doing so.
