Lily could see the plane was not
going to be able to rescue them, for it had to rescue itself. The smoke
coming from it was getting intense and it seemed to have no pilot; its
direction changed from straight-ahead to slowly tilting downwards. She
didn't know what to think; she hoped it wouldn't crash. It seemed to be
descending out of control at a greater and greater speed; it was going
to hit somewhere in the middle of the island. She had to go find where,
but she didn't want to leave Isabelle unconscious on the beach. After a
few seconds of watching the sickly plane, she decided to go; Isabelle
didn't seem injured, but the people on the plane would be. She mustered
all of her strength, finally stood up, and frantically looked for a
clearing in the forest.
The plane was closer now; she
could see the fire that was causing the smoke. She hated to think what
was happening inside it. She didn't have the strength to run, so she
attempted to jog into the forest, in the direction she assumed where
the plane would land. She luckily had been wearing jeans so her legs
were protected, but the jungle, or forest, or whatever she was in the
middle of, was cutting up her arms as she tore through the plants. She
could hear the plane now, then she heard it crash; she winced.
She ran in the direction of the
crashing noise. She cleared away the last bit of forest to come across
the scar the plane had made on the land. About 100 feet in front of her
lay the battered plane. She instinctively ran to it and tried to find
one if its doors. Two were jammed, but she finally found one that she
could open with only little difficulty. Smoke rolled out of the doorway
as soon as she opened it. She coughed and tried to fan some of it away
with her hands.
Inside, of what she could see,
was a mess. She noticed someone under a pile of books, shelves, and
other objects. She frantically began to clear away the debris to find
an unconscious man with short black hair. With much effort, she dragged
him out of the plane and to an area a safe distance away from the
plane. She left him lying on the ground before she ran back to the
plane.
She found another man with
debris on him, who had light brown hair, and resembled the previous man
a bit. She dragged him to the same spot, and let him lie there too.
She returned to the plane,
wondering how many people there were. She tried to get into the cockpit
to find a pilot, but it was blocked, and she had to reserve her
strength for removing any accessible people she found. She found yet
another man, this one with dark brown hair, whose leg was jammed stuck
under a table or some piece of smashed furniture. She carefully pushed
it out of the way, and guessed the leg would be broken. She gently
dragged him out of the plane; she didn't want to injure his leg even
more.
She returned to find a man with dark brown hair and, surprisingly,
un-cracked sunglasses. He didn't seem to be injured, so she dragged him
out a bit quicker. She counted four men and wondered if there were
anymore; she was ready to collapse from exhaustion. But something told
her to look one more time. She sighed and sorely returned to the plane.
Smoke still hung in the air and
it was hard to see. But she noticed a blond head. The man was hunched
over to his left; his arms lay limp over his face, as if he had been
trying to protect himself. There was glass all over his arms; some bits
had gotten on his face. She gently removed some of the bigger pieces;
she didn't want to lodge the pieces in any further into his skin when
moving him. She dragged him out and lay him down by the others, and
almost collapsed in the noonday heat.
But then Lily remembered
Isabelle, and tried to find the way through the forest through which
she had entered the scene so she could return back to the beach. She
followed the trail she had blazed and found herself on the beach again.
Isabelle was just waking up, shocked by the brightness of the sun.
"Lily...?” she whispered.
"I'm here, Izzy, don't worry,”
she replied.
"Wha, what happened...where are
we?” she weakly asked.
"The cruise ship sank, we're on
an island, but right now don't worry about those facts...you've gotta
help me!”
"What? Why?” Isabelle replied,
confused.
"A plane crashed on the island.
I removed some people, but we gotta get them away from the plane; it
could explode or something soon. C'mon...” Lily urged, helping Isabelle
up. Both girls rushed through the trail, and Isabelle gasped when she
saw the scene for the first time.
"Stop gawking, snap out of it,”
Lily told her, "we need to see if we can get anything from the plane.”
Isabelle nodded as the two began to search the plane. They found some
duffel bags and dragged them to an area behind some huge protective
rocks. They then carefully dragged the guys to the same area; it was
farther away from the scar and the plane, hopefully a safe distance
away. Something burst into flame on the plane. The girls instinctively
ran behind the rocks just in time; the plane exploded. They closed
their eyes in fright and waited for the chaos the end. They then looked
at each other and weakly smiled; they had saved some lives. But they
were too tired to think or act anymore, and both fell asleep once they
made sure the fire from the explosion had died down and would be no
threat to the forest or them.

AJ woke up with a pounding
headache; at first he couldn't remember what had happened. Then it all
came back to him. The plane had been doomed, all the guys had been
injured; he shuddered at the recent memories. He rubbed his eyes and
looked around. Was this life after death? On the plane, he had been
sure he was going die. He saw the rest of the guys lying around him,
each sleeping, he hoped. He winced as he saw Howie's smashed leg,
Brian's and Kevin's bruises, and Nick's cut up arms and face.
He then noticed two girls asleep
beside the guys. Both looked beaten up too, and had cuts and ash marks
as if from a fire on them. They had deep tan skin and flowing black
hair. One seemed Asian, and the other seemed, well, he couldn't
decide. He tried to prop himself up against a nearby rock, and
could only do so with much difficulty. He looked around. His breath
stopped short when he saw where the plane exploded.
If the plane exploded, why are
we lying here still alive? he thought. He shuddered at the idea
of any of them dying.
He tried to get up, but his
strength failed him. His movements made Howie stir. Howie groaned in
pain and woke up.
"Yo, D, you awake?” AJ quietly
asked.
"Yeah...OW,” he replied, trying
to movie his leg.
"Don't move, K? Don't want
anything else happening to you.”
"Yeah, okay...damn, this HURTS.”
"Should we wake the others up?”
"No, let them rest. Who are
those two girls? And how in hell did we come out alive?” Howie asked,
more awake by now.
"Dunno, and dunno. You know as
much as I do.” AJ replied with a shrug.
"What happened?” Brian whispered.
"Dude, Rok! You're alive!” Howie
smiled.
"And why wouldn't I be?...OW,”
Brian replied, trying to get up.
"Don't move, Bri, just rest. We
survived the plane crash, that's all we know.” AJ informed him.
"Oh...and who are the girls?”
Brian mumbled.
"Dunno.” AJ answered.
"The plane exploded.” Howie
commented, looking around.
"Yeah,” AJ let out a sigh.
"And we're still alive?” Brian
questioned.
"Uh-huh.”
"Whoa.”
"Yeah.”
Kevin stirred awake as a result
of the noise around him, groaned, and tried to sit up but collapsed in
pain.
"Owww...” Nick said as his
scratched arms touched the ground when he tired to make an attempt to
get up.
"Frack, dun move, " Brain warned
him. He winced looking at the cuts on Nick's arms.
"Guys--?” Kevin started.
"We dunno. We are here, and
alive, that's all we can tell you. The plane is gone, we are in pain,
and there are two mystery girls over there. That's all, Kev.” AJ cut
him off, knowing what he was going to ask.
"Shit.”
"Yeah.”
"Bri, what's on my arms?!” Nick
whimpered in pain.
"Glass, Nick. Remember the
window breaking?...Heh, at least you covered most of your pretty face,”
Brian tired to laugh.
"It feels like a billion rocks
were chucked at me,” Kevin groaned, finally able to sit up.
"Books...and shelves...”AJ
corrected him. Kevin looked at him quizzically. "I saw everything,” he
explained. "Yo, D, can you move you leg?”
"OWW...Nope.”
"What are we gonna do..?!” Nick
asked the question that was on all their minds.
"Dunno...hey, our duffel bags
are here!” Brian pointed out.
"Are you serious?” Kevin
exclaimed.
"Yeah, man, look!”
"That's some relief," Howie
sighed.
"Not for long," Nick muttered.
"What else is here?” AJ asked.
"Just the bags," Brian replied.
"Well, that's still some good.”
Howie tried to look on the brighter side. The guys nodded. "Should we
wake the girls up?”
"I dunno, Kev?”
"Let ‘em rest. I mean, I can't
get up, let alone try to wake them up.” The others nodded in agreement.
"I'm gonna try to see if any of
the bags has a first aid kit.” AJ slowly and painfully stood up.
"Check my bag.” Kevin said.
"Leave it to good ole Kev!” AJ
smiled, pulling out a first aid kit.
"Someone has to be prepared,”
Kevin said smiling.
"D, you gotta trust me. I
learned how to do this ages ago, and it's gonna be helpful now...But
I'm not gonna lie; this is gonna hurt...” AJ warned "I gotta set your
leg.” He knelt down beside him. Howie nodded in understanding and
grabbed a bag to hold.
"MMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!” He
exclaimed, screaming into the bag as to not wake up the girls.
"There, man,” AJ said when he
finished, "braced, wrapped, and ready.”
"Th-Thanks,” Howie meekly
whispered smiling.
By now Kevin had been able to
get up and head towards his bag. He pulled out some bandages from the
kit and walked over to Nick. "Nick, hold still.” Nick nodded but was
unable to keep from squirming and biting his lips in order to prevent
himself from screaming while Kevin cleaned wrapped up his arms.
"I think the rest of us just
need Advil.” Brian commented as AJ and Kevin sat back down.
"Hey, we are in pain too...!”
Nick commented motioning to Howie and himself.
"I know that, I just meant Kev,
AJ, and I ONLY need Advil.”
"Oh.”
"Dude, we need water too.”
"Oh yeah.”
"Well, we have a few bottles in
our bags, but we'll need to find some more.”
"Dammit, how long are we gonna
be here?!”
"Calm down...I think people will
soon notice that The Backstreet Boys have disappeared.” Kevin said with
a bit of a smirk.
"Yeah.” Brian agreed with a
chuckle.
AJ got the boys their water
bottles, and the five took their medicine and sat in silence.
[2 hours later]
"Lily...?” Isabelle hoarsely
whispered. She didn't hear a response, but the Boys heard her.
"Dude, one's awake,” Howie
whispered.
Isabelle was on her stomach, her
cheek on the ground. Lily was lying right next to her. She picked up
her head and turned it to look forward...to see 5 guys staring at her.
"Wha...? Who...?” she said
quietly trying to collect her thoughts. "Oh...” then she remembered.
The cruise ship sinking. The rain. The ocean. The beach. The forest.
The plane crashing...then exploding.
"You okay...?” Brian asked.
"Yeah...You?”
"In pain, but alive.” AJ smiled.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes;
everything was a bit fuzzy.
"Do you guys have some water?”
"Yeah, here,” Kevin rolled her a
bottle.
"Thanx.” She said, drinking
thirstily.
Silence.
"I'm Isabelle,” she said
sticking her hand out to the nearest guy, Kevin.
"I'm Kevin,” he smiled shaking
her hand. "This guy with the tattoos and screwed hair is AJ,” he smiled
as AJ made a face at him.
Isabelle giggled, "Hey, AJ.”
"Then the short dude that may
look like me, so I'm told, is my cousin, Brian,” he went on.
Brian grinned.
"Hey, Brian.”
"Over by him with the messed leg
is Howie. " Howie waved. So did Isabelle. "And finally the lil' guy, or
should I say, big guy, over there looking like a mummy is Nick.” He was
having fun introducing the guys; Nick stuck his tongue out at him.
"Pleased to meet you.” Isabelle
smiled.
"Could you explain something?”
Nick asked.
"What?” Isabelle replied.
"How come we are alive!?” he
asked. Isabelle laughed. "What!?” he wanted to know what as so funny.
"You sounded so like a little
kid with that tone.” She smiled, happy to have laughter in such a
situation. She sighed, "Anyway...I don't know why I'm even
alive...”
"Uh...?” The guys looked at her
with confused faces. Isabelle sighed again.
"Lemme explain. Lily, that's my
friend who is asleep, and I, were with some friends on a cruise. The
boat sank, though I don't know when because I have no sense of time at
the present moment. Anyways, it was raining and raining etc and the
last thing I remember was being hit by some pole. I guess I blacked
out, and Lily must have found me and somehow we floated to shore or
sumthin' cuz I woke up with her screaming at me on a beach. She was
telling me about how she had gotten some people outta a crashed plane,
you all I assume, and that we had to search the plane some more before
it exploded or sumthin. We found your bags and dragged them out...then
the plane actually did explode. I guess afterwards we fell asleep with
exhaustion.” Isabelle finished.
"Wow,” Howie commented.
"Yeah,” Isabelle sighed.
Silence.
"So now what?” Nick asked.
"What do you mean? We just have
to sit and wait and hope for rescue I guess.” Isabelle answered.
"Hmph.” Nick grumbled, already
impatient with the situation.
"We need to find, or make, a
shelter.” Kevin commented.
"Yeah...Okee, um, I say me, AJ,
and Isabelle go exploring.” Brian stated.
"And why is that?” Isabelle
questioned.
"That leaves Kev, being the last
one who can walk, so he can stay here with Howie, Nick, and your
friend--”
"Lily.”
"Yeah, Lily.”
"K, lesgo before it gets
dark...whenever that may be.” AJ said looking at the sky. Brian helped
Isabelle up and the three went to explore the island.
