*Chapter 25 ~ Clouds Ahead*

A few days later, Brian called.
            "Hello?" Julie picked it up.
"Oh um hi, Julie...c-can I speak to Jenny?" he stuttered.
"Umm k," Julie said and went to fetch her friend. "It's Brian...he doesn't sound like himself," Julie said when she found Jenny in her room. Jenny nodded and picked up the phone by her desk.
            "Hello?"
            "Jenny?"
            "Hey, mister."
            "Hi..."
"What? No 'missy'? What's wrong, Bri...?"
            "Umm..."
            "What? Tell me."
"Well...I dunno how to say this..."
"Well you're gonna have to say something cuz I'm not going till you do."
"Um...well...It's about Nick. See...we went out to this party last night that one of the artists of the record company was holding...he, um, was bored and really hungry and ate a lot of the snacks...you know those salty ones they give out at parties, as munchies?"
            "Yeah..."
"Well, he got thirsty...that would be expected...he was basically hovering around the snack table, munching and drinking...and ended up drinking a large amount of punch... you know how you can end up doing that at parties, especially with the stupid munchies making you thirsty?"
            "Uh-huh..."
"Well, thing is, the punch was spiked...REALLY spiked...I don't know how or why, but it was..."
            "Go on..."
             "He looks horrible...he has a hangover...and he's crying."
            "Omigod, why?"
"Well...as you can assume he got drunk..."
            "Mmm-hmmm..."
"And um well...this girl started coming onto him...really coming onto him...and when AJ and I noticed, he was in a, um...make-out session you could say...I have a feeling both were drunk, by the way they were acting when they got up..."
            "And...?!"
"Yeah...well...I think they were planning to find a quiet place...er, if you know what I mean...Nick had gotten up and was leading her somewhere when we went to stop him. He was so out of it; Kevin and Howie had to support him to get him to the hotel..."
            "This is so...I dunno..."
"Yeah...and he doesn't know how to tell Julie. He's really worried...So now what?"
"Get Nick on the phone. He can't do anything but tell her. She won't kill him or anything. It's not like he did it purposefully...I'll get Julie, k?"
"Okay...here goes nothing," Brian sighed as he went to get Nick. Jenny went and found Julie in the study on the computer.
            "Julie?"
            "Hmmm?"
"Nick needs to talk to you."
"It seems like I talk to this boy every day...!" Julie laughed and took the phone. Jenny went and sat on the bed.
            "Hi, Nick!"
"OW, BRI....Hi Julie...um...I-I have to tell you something..."
            "Yeah?"
Jenny watched as she saw Julie's laughing smile fade. Julie looked up and met Jenny's eyes. Jenny nodded, letting her know that she knew about what Nick was telling her. She walked over and held Julie in a hug. Julie was still listening to Nick. Julie couldn't speak.
"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry...I, I don't know what else to say...I was afraid to tell you...I don't want to lose you, Julie...please say something..." Nick's head was pounding and he was ready to cry.
"I...have to go," was all she was able to get out before she shoved the phone into Jenny's face and ran out of the room.
"JULIE! Great...Nick, I'm sorry, but she ran out of the room, do you want me to go get her?"
            "C-can you...?"
"Yeah, hang on," Jenny put down the phone and ran out of the room searching for Julie. She found her in her room, sitting on her bed, as if in deep thought or in shock...or both. "Julie, talk to Nick, please, he's still waiting on the line."
            "I can't."
            "Why not?"
            "I just can't."
"You mean a lot to him."
"I used to think so, but not anymore."
"Don't talk like that. He really cares for you!"
            "I doubt it."
            "Stop talking like that."
            "You're not my mother."
"Well I feel like I am right now. Talk to him."
            "NO."
"Don't get all stubborn on me. Do you want to sulk around day in and day out like Hannah has been? Or do you want to fix this right here and now?!" Jenny was losing patience. Julie looked up at her.
"But what am I supposed to say?"
"That's for you to figure out," Jenny said, picking up the phone ad motioning for Julie to take it. Julie stared at it for a moment, and looked at her. Jenny nodded and held it closer to her. Julie gave up and finally took it, placing it on her ear.
            "Julie...?"
            "Yeah Nick, it's me."
