I turned the corner and ran into
some girl.
"Ow!" I exclaimed
"Sorry," she returned.
"Holy crap...Hannah!?" I realized
"Yeah...Sarah!?" she replied with
enthusiasm.
"What are YOU doing here!?" I quickly
asked her. "I thought you were busy today?"
"Well, what are YOU doing here? Having
FUN! The work schedule changed at the last minute, but you guys had already
left the house--"
"You will NeVeR guess who we met...!"
I started, interrupting her.
"Who, hmmm?" she inquired.
"Um, them..." I said pointing to the
Boys as they, Julie, and Jenny, finally caught up with me. Hannah's face changed
a tinge in both color and expression. She was speechless.
"Hannah? Is that you?" Julie exclaimed,
running over our friend, diverting Hannah's attention from the Boys
to Julie and Jenny.
"Hey Hannah!" Jenny greeted her. The
Boys stood beside us, and politely waited for us to calm down with our greetings
and introduce them.
"Oh yeah..." I sheepishly ginned at
them, "Guys, this is Hannah. Hannah, this is Howie, AJ, Brian, Nick, and Kevin,
" she shook their hands, "...but as if you didn't know that," I added as
they smiled.
"Charmed to meet you," greeted Howie.
"Wuzzup?" AJ shook her hand.
"Hallo!" Brian grinned.
"Hey!" Nick said.
"Pleased to meet you," Kevin smiled.
"Uh, um...Hi," she finally managed
to stutter.
Brian grinned at her, "Aw, dun worry...we don't bite!" he made Hannah smile.
"Um, hellooo...people....sorry to
interrupt this whole greeting extravaganza, but nourishment needed here....stomach
growling....food wanted sometime today please, " Jenny interjected. We all
laughed.
"Well I'm first in line!" I called.
"Well then!" Julie replied.
"Me hungry too!" Hannah complained.
"So? Point being...?" I smiled. She
rolled her eyes at me.
"Nooo! ME hungry more!" Nick caught
on.
"Like, whateva! I'm, like, the one
who deserves to be numero uno in this line," Brian jokingly piped up in a
valley girl voice.
"Ladies first, " AJ said grabbing
Jenny from behind him and putting her in front of him in the line.
"OW, " she exclaimed with a smirk,
"Yes, that WAS my arm you grabbed." AJ shrugged his shoulders. The line order
was finally me first, then Hannah, Julie, Nick, Brian, Jenny, AJ, Howie, and
Kevin
"Wait, so what are we getting?" Kevin
called from the back of the line.
"Clam chowder in bread bowls," I called
back, so everyone in the line could hear.
"Ewww!" Nick exclaimed.
"Don't worry, they are so good," Julie
tried to explain as he made a face.
"Yeah Frack, lighten up, try new things!"
Brian smacked him atop the head.
"OW... fine," Nick returned, rubbing
his head.
I received my lunch and paid, and
went to find a table that would hold 9 people, quite a task. The area was
small, but no one else was around, I placed my lunch on a table and started
to arrange them together to hold all of us.
"Um, hungry a bit?" I inquired, raising
an eyebrow at Nick and Brian, who looked like they were racing each other.
They stopped for a moment to look up and vigorously nod, then dove back into
their lunch. "I take it you like clam chowder, Nick..." I asked him, he nodded
again and went back to eating. Julie had sat down on the other side
of them by Nick and was eating, slowly and daintily as usual, pausing to snicker
at Brian and Nick. Across from me and next to Julie, AJ was trying to imitate
Jenny's eating habits, slurping when she sipped the chowder, etc. She would
roll her eyes at him, and he would mimic her by rolling his plus making some
sort of face. Howie was having fun watching their silent feud as he sat next
to Jenny. Hannah finally sat down by Howie and ate slowly, trying to take
in the concept that she was sitting, eating lunch in Disneyland, with the
Backstreet Boys. Kevin was between me and Hannah. He gave me this look as
if saying "Don't worry, we can be normal". I smiled.
"So Hannah, are you from around here?"
Howie inquired, forcing Nick and Brian to slow down eating and pay attention.
"Yeah, " she replied, "South of LA...like
sorta in San Diego, but not, kinda north of it....just like these three here,
I live with the freaks " She indicated pointed to Julie, Jenny, and me.
"Cool, " Brian said, trying to get
into the conversation. "Like roommates?"
"We share a house. We all went to
the same junior high and high school...well, that is, except for SARAH for
the later part," she emphasized my name, "She ditched us to go to another
high school, " she finished.
"Oh really?" Kevin asked, interested.
"Yeah, yeah, they can never let it
go. I chose a different high school, and loved it. They just can't comprehend
that fact! I mean, I'm with some of them now in college. I got into Berkeley
but transferred down to UCSD. They just like holding grudges..." I replied.
"Whatever," Julie smiled and rolled
her eyes at me, "Our high school was still better..."
"Nuh-uh!" I shot back.
"Uh-huh!" Hannah and Jenny joined
in.
"Nuh-uh!" Nick and Brian screamed
in unison. We looked at them. They shrugged and grinned, "Just felt like
arguing!" they explained.
"What the...?!" I exclaimed as I felt
a splash of clam chowder on my cheek. I turned in the direction that it came
from as the others snickered.
"Oh, did I do that?" Jenny sheepishly
grinned.
"Oh, you're dead!" I exclaimed, ripping
a piece of bread out of the bread bowl, and chucking it at her. It hit AJ
smack in the eyes, well actually, right on his prized sunglasses.
"Ohhh, now it's gone TOO far!" he
yelled and he catapulted some clam chowder in my direction with his spoon.
I ducked and it hit Kevin's head.
"Hey!" He exclaimed. Nick and Brian
couldn't pass up the chance.
"FOOD FIGHT!!!!!" they screamed standing
up, throwing their food.
"Ahhh! Noooo!" Jenny, Hannah, Julie,
and I screamed and we tried to find cover.
"Oh JuLiE..." Nick sweetly said.
"Yeah?" She turned around.
"Take that!" he shoved his bread bowl
forward. She quickly ducked and it landed smack in Brian's face; he was about
to attempt to scare Julie from behind when she had unexpectedly ducked.
"Ahhh, NICK!" He yelled, trying to
run after his friend.
"Calm down," Julie said holding him
back, "Here, you might want to get the chowder off your face..." Julie giggled
handing him some napkins. Brain smiled at her kindness as she helped him
wipe off his faces and his hair. Nick, still running, ran right into Kevin,
who was ready and waiting with his bread bowl. Nick's face got covered.
"Aww, is Nicky boy all dirty now?"
Kev grinned.
"No, but Kevvy boy IS!" I yelled as
I saw Howie dump the contents of his bread bowl on Kevin.
"D!!!" He exclaimed.
"Hey Howie!" Hannah screamed.
"Huh?" He turned to see Hannah throw
her bread bowl at him. He jumped out of the way as it landed on someone else's
head.
"Omagod! I'm sorry Mr..." Hannah ran
over and helped the guy take the bowl off his head "Holy crap..." she whispered
when she got the bowl off and he wiped his face. We all stopped to see whom
she had hit.
