"Look at all the stupid stones
and the names," Nick pointed at the fake graves around the mansion. "I mean
'I.M. Mortal'? 'Rustin Peace'? How stupid can they get?"
"I don't think they're that
stupid," Julie commented. "When I first saw them I thought they were pretty
creative."
"Oh, did I say stupid? I
meant, um, uh, silly, yeah, that's it! Haha, silly! And creative..." Nick
tried to make himself look better. We all silently laughed at his efforts.
"Nice comeback, Frack" Brian
quietly mumbled.
"Shut up, Frick" Nick returned.
Attendants were letting groups
in, but it was still taking some time. AJ grumbled, not knowing what to say,
bored at the present moment. The silence was killing me. I looked around,
trying to observe things. Kevin must have been doing the same thing, because
for a moment, our eyes met. Being the shy one, I looked away and could feel
my face heat up. "Don't blush," I told myself, "Don't blush!" I knew I was
blushing. Damn. Once in a life time, we meet celebrities, get to spend a whole-freakin'
day with them, and I look like a child...
"Sooo, what brings you guys
here?" Brian tried to spark a conversation.
"What a start," Jenny commented.
"Well, as you know, it's my birthday, and I got some cool coupons letting
us in free, so I brought my two friends for a fun-filled day at the most 'magical
place on earth,' Disneyland. The other half of our group was busy today,
so I guess I'll have some coupons for later use," she shrugged. "There. Done.
Now what about you?"
"We had a day off, we told
you earlier" AJ commented at Jenny's mistake. She made a face and stuck out
her tongue at him.
"Uh-oh, the quick evil tongue
is used again!" he exclaimed, pretending to be in fear, "Help me, oh dear
sAH-rAH!" he hid behind me, taking me by the shoulders. His actions took me
by surprise and it put me off balance. The force on my shoulders caused me
to fall forward, right into Kev, who abruptly caught me and verbally punished
AJ. The others laughed at the whole scene. When I looked at Jenny, her eyes
twinkled cuz she knew I hadn't really minded falling into Kevin, and that
she had caused the incident. Howie smiled as he saw Jenny laughing with dimples
in her cheeks.
Finally, we were allowed
inside. We were ushered towards a big, ancient, brown set of twin doors.
There were cobwebs everywhere. The candles had fake fire (light bulbs), yet
still added to the eeriness. The doors opened as we were pushed inside, the
room was crowded and tense. We looked around noticing pretty normal pictures,
high on the walls.
"OOoooOOOoooo!!!" Nick and
Brian started making howling sounds, followed screeches, wails, and bellows.
"You guys!" Julie
wailed, "Stoppit!" Brian's eyes lit up, mischievously.
"I vant to suck your blood!"
Brian said, turning to Julie with an evil grin.
"Oh, no you don't!" she threatened,
backing away, finally into what she thought was the wall, as he walked closer
and closer to her. "Eek!" she screamed as Nick placed his hands around her
neck from behind her.
Their tricks were cut short
when a loud, booming voice began to talk, introducing us to the mansion. As
it bellowed, the ceiling appeared to be growing in size, the pictures on
the walls growing taller, revealing disturbing scenes. The lights were dimming.
The 'host' let out an evil laugh telling us we were trapped, noting there
was only one way out. The lights went out as lightning and thunder struck,
the ceiling gave way revealing high above us, the corpse of a previous victim,
frail and limp, hanging by the neck. Nick and Brian of course took this time
to make their screams louder to be to be heard over everyone else's responses.
The doors opened from a different side of the room, as everyone stumbled
out. There were pictures to view, yet these changed with the angles we looked
at them.
We came upon a conveyer belt
with big black odd shaped seats moving on it. Each seating contraption could
hold up to 3 people. Kevin took my hand and led me to one and sat down in
it, motioning for me to join him. I complied and sat as he pulled the handle
bar down. We flinched as it locked in its position. Nick got the same idea,
and grabbed Julie's hand, much to Brian's dismay. Nick was about to push down
the bar, when Brian hopped in their seat, squeezing Julie in between them.
This did not make Nick happy.
"Cozy?" Brian asked, smirking
at Julie. She again kept silent, but kept a smile.
"C'mon Jenny," Howie motioned
to her as he hopped into another seat. AJ didn't like this and hopped in after
him, shoving Howie to the side, making sure he would be in the middle, making
room for Jenny next to him.
"Oh, it's okay, you two can
enjoy this ride together," Jenny sweetly smiled, pushing the handle bar down
into its locking position. She left to sit in the next seat. AJ and Howie
sat there in shock; their plans had backfired. AJ immediately scooted away
from Howie to the other side of the seat and grunted in anger.
The booming voice did not
leave us, but seemed to come from the seat now as it narrated our trip through
the mansion. At one point, by a graveyard, corpses popped up from behind gravestones
with out warning, making me jump. Kev put his arm around me and pulled me
close to comfort me. I felt like an idiot because the ride which I thought
was bit corny had never scared me before in my life. I could hear Julie behind
us scream while Brian and Nick made her happy but miserable with all their
spooky antics. Howie and AJ of course were not paying attention to anything,
but pondering how to prevent the other from getting near Jenny so they could
sit by her on the next ride. At one point, we passed by mirrors, as the voice
warned that we may have picked up hitchhiking ghosts. In the reflection,
there sat a green pale ghost in the middle of the seat, yet when we looked
between us, there was nothing. Brian and Nick made a huge stupid deal about
the ghost being on Julie, or being a part of her (so it seemed in the reflection),
playfully annoying her. After getting out of the seats, an escalator took
us upward to daylight, to the exit.
"I dunno about you, but I
think I left part of my soul in there!" Nick jokingly stated.
"I think you left your brain
in there, Frack," was Brian's reply.
"Did not!" he shot back.
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Guys..." Kev warned.
"Ha, I won cuz he cut you
off!" Brian triumphantly informed Nick.
"Nuh-uh!" Nick replied.
"Uh-huh!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Uh-huh!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Uh-huh!"
"GUYS," Kev said again. Brian
stuck his tongue out at Nick cuz he knew he won again.
"Okay, including the two
idiots that are still arguing with their faces," Jenny looked at Brian and
Nick, who both shrugged innocently, "Where do we go now?"
"Indiana Jones, c'mon! I
think it's my turn to pick a ride," Howie whined.
"Fine," Jenny agreed, seeming
to be the leader at the moment. Howie smiled, glad she had agreed with him.
"Noo, that's the ride I hate!"
Julie complained.
"HEY, I went on Splash Mountain
for you guys, even though I detest the ride. You've gotta go on Indiana Jones
for us," I stated.
"That does seem fair," Kevin
backed me up.
"Fine," Julie said, making
a face at me.
"We are so mature," Jenny
commented. "All we do is make faces and stick out our tongues."
"I say it's better than contact fights...or is it?" Brian quickly
looked at Nick.
"Don't you dare lay a finger on me, Rok....noo!" he ran as Brian
chased him.
"We'd better follow them,"
AJ sighed.
