-->Chapter Fourteen: Tell.Me.That.I'm.Dreaming [CONTINUED]

We had originally gotten three rooms in the hotel to share between six girls, but after the "accident", we all piled into one for the day. The Boys were on the floor above us, and randomly took turns to come down to check on us when any one of them was awake. We had discussed a bit on what had happened, but the guys didn't want to push it. They had had a stage crew inspect the elevator of the abandoned building soon after. Originally, it had been thought that the elevator was just too old, but it turned out, the cables had been severed by hand - just enough so that it would break if ever used. The guys then concluded that it had been set up to hurt them, but that we had gotten into the elevator instead. Either way, we were okay, and they didn't want to discuss the subject any further.

We agreed to be up by 4PM, so the guys came and gave us a wake up call. Brian knocked on the door...no answer. The others waited behind him. He knocked again...Nick pushed in front of him and found our door unlocked, and proceeded to open it. The guys weren't sure if they were supposed to follow him.
Shhhh..." he put a finger to his lips with a smile on his face and beckoned them to come in. The guys looked to see what had made him smile - we had shoved the two twin beds together, and somehow, all six of us had fit...in interesting positions.
"Like the girls would say: 'that's SO cute!' " Brian laughed quietly.
"Where's a camera when you need one?" Howie joked.
"Right here." Kevin pulled out his camcorder from his bag and turned it on. He kept it on us and walked around the beds to open the curtains. We started to move as the sun's rays filtered onto our faces, but didn't fully wake up.
"I'd jump on the bed and all, but I don't wanna crush none of them, or anything," Brian laughed.
"Yeah, you don't wanna ruin the moment..." Nick grinned.
Chin opened an eye and looked at him, then tried to turn over. Her foot hit Cathy's head, who mumbled some incoherent words and moved positions. Her knee went into Julie side. Julie  shifted uncomfortably, and her shoulder went on Jenny's hair. Jenny tried to pull away, her eyes still closed, and her arm hit Hannah in the leg. Hannah moved and her elbow and hit my side, which caused me yelp and shift away in pain...and fall off the bed.
"Now look what you guys have done! Messed up the whole balance of things!" AJ spoke up, laughing.
"And it alll caught on tape!' Kevin added, with a grin. The other three joined in, in the laughter, and didn't notice that we were now awake and pissed. They paid dearly with a pillow attack.

(2AM, the next day)

As instructed, Julie stepped off the curb. Nick grabbed her by the arm and brought her face to face with him. Her hair whirled as she was turned around, and the camera zoomed in as the water splashed over them. She looked into his eyes...those pools of ocean blue that she used to be able to read so well. Now they seemed tired, worried, and looked almost gray...did she see a hint of remorse?
"CUT! Take five...AJ, it's your turn next!" the assistant director yelled before he went to find the director. Julie and Nick hadn't moved from their frozen positions. The commotion around them caused them to snap out of it.
"Sorry." Nick let go of her once he realized he was still holding on to her.
"Don't worry about it." It took all her strength for Julie to break her gaze from his.

"Remind me again why we helped you," I muttered to Kevin, using his shoulder as a pillow.
"You shut up, you didn't have to do anything," Chin mumbled, leaning on my arm.
"Well neither did you," I replied.
"Well, I was supposed to." Chin lightly elbowed Hannah, who was falling asleep in the chair beside her. She yelped and jerked awake.
"Well sorry if I was available for your scene when you were off on a rooftop," she said, nursing her side.
"I resent that," Chin tried not to laugh. "I don't feel loved. I'm gonna go see who's still shooting." Chin got up and left. Hannah shifted to her seat and took Chin's place leaning on my arm.
"You guys are too much," Kevin laughed, observing us.
"You didn't answer my question," I poked him in the side. He rested his head on top of mine.
"You're helping us cuz you guys are our friends and love us," he said in a sappy voice.
"I would roll my eyes, but they're not open," I yawned.

Brian, Howie, Cathy, and Jenny were in the impromptu cafeteria area.
"It's too early to eat!" Jenny made a face as Brian wolfed down his food across the table from her.
"I didn't have dinner," Howie complained, inhaling some cereal as he sat next to Brian. Cathy sat beside Jenny, munching on a pear.
"Hey, since Kat and I are done with our scenes, and all..." Jenny hinted.
"You wanna know if you can leave early and get some sleep while we finish up?" Howie smiled.
    "You betcha," Cathy said.
"Our flight is at 1PM," Jenny groaned.
"Aw, fine...leave us," Brian attempted to act dramatic.
"Whatever, mister," Jenny smiled as the two got up from the table and left.  The Boys finished their food soon after and started out in Jenny and Cathy's direction. Brian jogged ahead to catch up to Jenny.
"No hug?" He tried to act hurt once Jenny turned around. Cathy kept on walking.
"I thought you forgot," Jenny said half-jokingly. "Last night, or yesterday morning, or whatever...you didn't ask for one."
Howie passed them and continued towards the main set.
"I thought you forgot." Brian pressed a finger on Jenny's nose, making her grin. "But you were in too much shock, I guess, cuz I did give you a hug, missy...but you didn't return it," he tried to pout.
"I'm sorry...I was just so tired and the whole elevator thing and-"
"Shhh," he embraced her. She welcomed his hug, and scolded herself when she wished it had lasted longer.
    "Brian?"
Both turned to see a girl, one of the extras, walking towards them.
"Goodnight, mister," Jenny whispered to her best friend, and left him to talk with the girl. She tried not to listen in, but she couldn't help it.
"Yes?" He turned once Jenny had left.
"Oh, I'm sorry, was that your girlfriend?" she asked. Brian weakly smiled.
"No, don't worry about it...so, what's up?" he tried to make conversation.
Jenny turned the corner and rested against the wall. Why was she staying? She heard their voices only faintly now - there was no point to stay...yet she did. She heard the girl was asking Brian something about the few hours the shoot would take later in the afternoon. Jenny looked at her watch...it was after 2 AM. She sleepily closed her eyes, but then snapped out of it as she heard the voices coming closer. She saw the two walk past her, towards the main set. Only when they were a bit farther away, did Jenny continue walking. She saw them stop and hug before the girl left. Jenny sighed, and took a detour to the main set to find Cathy and the rest of us to go back to the hotel.

AJ lip-synced as he got off the bus. He took his hat in his hands and put it to his chest as the music boomed. Chin watched him, and attempted to lean against the closest thing to her. That happened to be a light, which abruptly swayed before she caught it.
"CUT!" the director yelled before AJ was done. All eyes in the area were on Chin.
"Sorry...I'll, uh...be going now..." she gave a sheepish grin and turned tail to walk away. She didn't see AJ smile. He couldn't help it. She was so cute...

(9PM that evening)
"I'm so glad we finished early," AJ sighed as the five boys walked up the stairs. They had vowed not to use elevators while they were in town.
"Yeah. Too bad the girls had to leave to go home," Howie commented.
"I think they were glad," Kevin laughed.
"Yeah, they're not video shoot veterans, like us," Nick joked.
"Why's Rok in high spirits?" AJ asked - Brian had run up the stairs.
"He found a girl," Nick replied.
"Another one?" AJ asked, pretending to be shocked.

(6AM the next morning, on the Boy's plane)
"I asked her out, J." Brian was bubbly.
"What?" AJ opened an eye. He had been trying to sleep.
"I asked Susan out." His eyes were twinkling.
    "Any main reason why?"
"I slept well last night...I think it's a sign," Brian smiled before looking out the window.
AJ sighed and closed his eyes. Did he get a hug from Jenny? popped into AJ's mind. He shook his head in disgust for going along with what the others had suggested, and tried to get some sleep.

(a week later)

"Hey, the video isn't gonna come out till December 31st," I commented, watching an ad on MTV. Jenny came in from the kitchen and plopped down beside me with Roky in tow.
"Are you serious?" She asked as she took my BonneBelle that I was about to use.
"Those liars!" Chin exclaimed from her spot in the kitchen, eating cereal. Jenny's hand dodged mine as I reached for my chapstick.
"The guys said maybe New Year's eve, maybe before, remember?" Julie opened the fridge to get some juice.
"I think they knew all along, but just said it might be sooner so that we wouldn't bite their heads off." Cathy brought her bagel into the family room.
"Wouldn't you have done the same thing?" Hannah looked up from her papers from her position on the sofa.
"Well excuse us for wanting to see something we actually were a part of - ON TV." Chin picked up Sprite on her way to family room before the kitten succeeded at pouncing on her toes. I played with Coke on my lap.
    "Speak for yourself," Jenny muttered.
"You looked fine...and you will look fine on TV, Jen," Chin assured her.
"I meant you didn't do a scene, so..." Jenny smiled. Chin grabbed a grape from Hannah's nearby plate and chucked it at Jenny.
"OW!" It bounced of her head. Immediately all three dogs went for the grape when as it landed on the floor. The phone rang.
"Julieeeee," we all chimed. She came out of the kitchen towards the family room.
"You five are the laziest people on the planet," she sighed as she headed for the phone that was right by Cathy.
"Well, you were the one standing. Thank you," Hannah smiled sweetly. Julie rolled her eyes and picked up the phone.
"HA!" I hopped up from sitting by Jenny, having successfully retrieved my chapstick, to get something from the kitchen.
"What if the building had been higher?" a muffled voice met Julie's ear. The dial tone followed. Julie made a face and looked at the phone.
"AGAIN!?" Chin exclaimed. I stopped my journey to the kitchen.
"What was it this time?" Cathy asked.
" Quote, 'what if the building had been higher?', end quote," Julie stated, before sitting down next to Hannah.
"Should we tell the guys?" Jenny asked.
"No, they're with their families right now. They just got off tour. We shouldn't worry them." Hannah stated.
    "But I'M worried," Chin whined.
"So the silent hang-ups have turned into attempted SCARY one-liners...ooooh," I muttered, still standing, trying to joke around. "We're alive, aren't we?"
    "Stoppit." Chin crossed her arms.
"Aren't you the one who doesn't get scared?" I asked, incredulously.
    "That's for MOVIES!" Chin replied.
    There was silence.
"It's just phone calls, we don't have to bother the guys over it," Julie broke the silence.
"It's not like they're saying 'Leave the Boys alone or else', or anything." Cathy tried to reason.
"But they know our phone number," Jenny replied.
"But that's all they know," I commented.
"What about Halloween?" Chin mumbled. We all looked at her.
    "And that letter..." Jenny added.
We all sat silently, digesting the connections. We hadn't wanted to really talk about it before...
    The phone rang.
    We all jumped.
    Chin answered it...and hung up.
" 'What if they hadn't been there when it fell?...What if they hadn't found you?' " she whispered.
